Game version 3836 (May 15, 2026)

This patch is mainly a balance patch with one notable exception: Thanks to Saver’s tireless work we now have new HQ and support factory designs that improve on the previous designs as well as fixing many technical issues. Please let him know if there are any concerns left that need addressing.

With gratitude to all those who contributed to this patch and/or took the time to report issues,

Features

  • (#7074, #7117) Add preliminary changelogs of fafdevelop and fafbeta to the changelog window in the lobby. These changelogs will be updated automatically with each deployment, allowing you to easily understand what exactly has changed when playing these game modes. You need to host a lobby in the appropriate game mode to see these changelogs. Alternatively, you can also find them on the changelog website.

Balance

  • (#6903) While previous nerfs have greatly reduced the oppressiveness of the Seraphim T3 Submarine Hunter, it is evident that it remains overtuned, particularly concerning its defensive capabilities. Accordingly, its health and torpedo defenses are nerfed to allow for more counterplay with Coopers, Destroyers, other subs, and torpedo bombers. It regains some of the speed it lost in (#6584), to make it feel less sluggish to use and emphasize micro.

    Yathsou: T3 Submarine Hunter (XSS0304):

    • Physics
      • MaxSpeed: 4.6 –> 4.8
      • MaxSpeedReverse: 4.6 –> 4.8
      • MaxSteerForce: 4.6 –> 4.8
    • Defense
      • Health: 4000 –> 3600
    • Ajellu Anti-Torpedo Defense (x2)
      • Reload: 10s –> 12s
  • (#7040) Reduce T3 mass fab blast radius from 14 to 10 to make their explosions less punishing to gunships.

    T3 Mass Fabricators (UEB1303, URB1303, UAB1303, XSB1303):

    • Death Weapon
      • DamageRadius: 14 –> 10
  • (#7055, #7109) Buff torpedo bombers and nerf cruisers to make torpedo bombers better early game, while buffing carriers to give a replacement splash AA solution late-game.

    UEF, Aeon, and Cybran T2 Cruisers (UES0202, UAS0202, URS0202)

    • AA Damage Radius: 1 –> 0

    Seraphim T2 Cruiser (XSS0202)

    • Flak range: 60 –> 55

    Aeon, and Seraphim T3 Carriers (UAS0303, XSS0303)

    • AA Damage Radius: 0 –> 1

    Cybran T3 Carrier (URS0303)

    • AA Damage Radius: 0 –> 1.5 The Cybran carrier has a bit more splash to make up for the decreased effectiveness of stealth late-game and lack of supporting shields and hover flak.

UEF, Aeon, and Cybran Torpedo Bombers (UAA0204, UEA0204, URA0204)

    • Torpedoes per volley: 4 –> 5 Damage per volley is kept the same (750).

    Aeon T3 Torpedo Bomber (XAA0306)

    • Torpedoes per volley: 5x2 –> 6x2 Damage per volley is kept the same (5000 –> 5004).
  • (#7108) Decrease Seraphim cruiser’s missile damage and splash radius.

The TML rework gave Seraphim fast missiles as a faction trait which caused their high DPS cruiser missiles to start hitting navy. While hitting navy is interesting, the DPS was not balanced for this, so the damage and splash are reduced. The Seraphim carrier keeps its 250 DPS missile launcher since it costs twice as much.

    Ithalua: T2 Cruiser (XSS0202):

    • Laanse Tactical Missile Launcher:
      • Damage: 500 (250 DPS) –> 300 (150 DPS)
      • Damage Radius: 3 –> 2
  • (#7110) Salem has its AA range reduced to weaken its ability to shoot down air scouts and allow for better counterplay against Cybran stealth boats covering the Salems.

    Cybran Destroyer (URS0201):

    • AA Max Radius: 60 –> 55
  • (#7110) Omen has its cost increased and its DPS slightly reduced as it is currently the most powerful battleship; the new higher cost matches the higher performance compared to other battleships.

    Aeon Battleship (UAS0302):

    • Mass Cost: 9000 –> 9500 (+5.6%)
    • Energy Cost: 54000 –> 58000 (+7.4%)
    • Build Time: 28800 –> 30300 (+5.2%)
    • Reload time: 5.9s (169.5 DPS x3) –> 6.0s (166.7 DPS x3)
  • (#7110) Tempest is good at safely farming value and staying healthy despite its low stats per cost compared to battleships due to its long range, high splash weapon and because it still greatly benefits from veterancy despite the previous nerf.

    Tempest (UAS0401):

    • Mass Cost: 24000 –> 25000 (+4.2%)
    • Energy Cost: 380000 –> 400000 (+5.3%)
    • Build Time: 38400 –> 40000 (+4.2%)

Bug fixes

  • (#6982) Change 3 prop normal textures from size 518x518 to 512x512 to make them compatible with BC3 texture compression and allow the FAF map editor to load everything from the ancient-earth props section.

  • (#7020, #132) Improve pathfinding by disabling internal intermediary waypoints for long-distance moves that lead to units moving in columns.

  • (#7075) Fixed veterancy health bonuses being truncated instead of rounded to the nearest whole number. Example:

    • Old HP of T2 Cybran ACU with 3 vets: 15599
    • New HP of T2 Cybran ACU with 3 vets: 15600
  • (#7077) Cybran T1 Bomber (URA0103):

    • Fixed an issue where bombs would linger after impact, cluttering the screen.
    • Fixed an issue where bombs failed to be destroyed upon water impact.
  • (#7087) Fix torpedoes having difficulties hitting the Cybran Frigate (URS0103) when it is turning.

  • (#143, #157) Fix units constructed earlier than their target aiming too far ahead on the moving target. Especially with beam weapons aiming at small units this could lead to misses.
  • (#145) Account for collision box offset when picking target point of a unit with no target bones.

UI

  • (#147) Adds console commands for scaling unit, projectile and deposit icons. Each set of icons has its own scale value.
    • ui_DepositIconScale
    • ui_StrategicIconScale
    • ui_ProjectileIconScale

Graphics

  • (#7009, #7114) Redesign of all HQ and Support Factories

Integrate the factory redesign made by Saver (forum thread). All factories now have proper upgrade animations and LOD1 models. On top of that, various issues have been fixed. This includes death animations, build footprints, hitboxes, target bones, textures and more.

  • (#7041) Fix the normals of rotated texture layers (Only affects maps that use the Terrain200 shader).

Other changes

  • (#6473) Rework the patchnotes dialog in the lobby.

This is a big internal change, which makes delivering accurate changelogs easier. It also stops the game from keeping 5MB worth of changelog text loaded while you play. The button to view the changelog online now points to a new website where all the changelogs are available. This will be the new default website to read about game patches.

  • (#6633) Improve documentation of the terrain type features

  • (#7068) Annotate LoggingStats, DebugMoveCamera, and KeyEvent.
